JAI Scrap Challenge # 11

Merry Christmas everyone.  Now that christmas has been and the gifts given I can now blog and enter this in to the JAI Scrapbooking Challenge #11 which is Just Add a mini album or a Scrapbooking gift for Christmas.  I created this scrap page on a canvas of my adorable little friend Ella (aged 3) and gave it to her and her mum for christmas.

I sponged the background and stamped and sponged/stenciled using a dollies cutout.  Have used stickers that have a 3D effect so the the Butterflies and Dragonflies wings can be positioned off the page. Did Ella's name by cutting out the letters in chipboard with the big shot and sponging ink onto them and them applying Crystal Effects and Dazzling diamonds.

Am really pleased with how it turned out and the recipients were thrilled with it too.

Happy Birthday's

At the end of November it was my Daughter's 18th birthday and my niece's 17th birthday.

Here are the cards I made for them.

I love this new Happy Birthday stamp.

Faux Patina

Went to a Stamp Camp last weekend run by two amazing ladies Paula Dobson and Sharlene Meyer at the Silverstream Retreat.  Was a great weekend spent crafting with like minded friends and a chance to make new friends as well.

I was asked to demonstrate a technique to WOW the crafters so I decided to show the Faux Patina technique that Paula taught us.  This involves using about 4 inks and some embossing powder as well as a textured embossing folder.

I demonstrated this card using Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, and some Cherry Cobbler inks for a christmas theme.  I used the Lace Brocade embossing folder and Pewter embossing powder and finished it with Gumball Green and Midnight Muse stitched satin ribbons.

Here are some of the samples I made up to show other colours and uses.

This one was done in yellows and blues with gold embossing and is the lid of a box. It was finished with a stitched satin ribbon in the new in colour Midnight Muse.  The embossing folder is the new Lace Brocade.

This is a card that was done in blues, green and brown also with gold embossing and finished with some  organza ribbon and an antique brad. The embossing folder is Vintage Wallpaper.

This one uses glossy cardstock with pink and red colours with Pewter embossing powder and the Lace brocade folder.

I had also used this technique on a scrapbook page Here, so you are only limited by your imagination as to what you can use and how you use it..

It was a great technique to show and had a few ladies try it out over the weekend.

Season's Greetings

Another christmas card this one being a bit more traditional in colour and style.

Gumball green card stock for the card base with cherry cobbler DSP from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack in the Holiday catalogue.  The tree is from the main catalogue which I have stamped with gumball green ink and dazzled with dazzling diamonds and added a large rhinestone at the top.

The greeting is stamped in cherry cobbler ink and is part of the Curly Cute set and I have finished it off with a bow in the cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon.

Peace on Earth

This is my first christmas card and it is totally non traditional, I was trying out a technique that I had been shown months ago at techniques class.  I have done the baby wipe swipe using reinkers on a baby wipe and swiping it across a piece of glossy card stock. I then stamped it with a flower from the Mixed Bunch set and a sentiment from the Merry & Type set. It was finished off with some Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon and some  Rhinestones.

Cot Quilt

Hi again

For a few months while I wasn't blogging I had been working on a cot quilt for Cooper.
Here some photos of it in his cot. The quilt panel is all hand stitched and the binding has been sewn by hand too.  I has been a real labour of love.

And yes a photo of him with it too.

Introducing Cooper

I know I haven't blogged for quite a long time but finally I am back with a quick post.

At the end of July I became a very very proud and doting Grandma and have finally got round to doing a page of my adorable grandson Cooper.

Have used a lot of retired product on the page but am pleased with the way it has turned out.

Anniversary Card

Today I have made a card for some friends who will be celebrating their anniversary tomorrow.  I had been looking on line for inspiration and have come up with this so if it is similar to yours thank you for the inspiration but I cannot remember where I saw it so am not able to give you credit.

Unfortunately the weather is rather dull and overcast and the photography is rubbish but I am really pleased with the way the card ended up.

Baby Shower

My daughter Anna and I had a busy day on Good Friday making invites to her baby shower.  We used the Baby Tees wheel that Anna rolled on whisper white card and then coloured with a mix of markers and inks with blender pens. Then she cut out the tees and attached them to the cards with dimensionals.  I cut the card and as we were making 3" by 3" cards I used 12" by 12" sheets so there was no waste and Nursery Nest DSP.

All of the cards and envelopes

A selection of different Tee Shirts

Close up of one card

And the envelope

The other stamp sets we used were Party Time and Baby Bundle.

It was a fun day and great to do the job together and I think Anna enjoyed being involved in the making as well.  She typed up the details on the computer for us to put in the inside.

I haven't been doing much in the way of card making as I have been working on quilting a cot panel for baby's cot.  I will show you when it is finished.

3 x 3 birthday card

I made this little card a few weeks back and thought I would share it with you.

Gave it to a friend for her birthday and she was really chuffed that I had made it for her.
I is so nice when you can make someone's day just by giving them a simple card.

Happy Birthday Sweet Ella

This is a birthday card I have made for a sweet little girl who has just turned three, Happy Birthday Ella.
I have used  DSP from Nursery Nest with Pink Pirouette and Marina Mist card stock.  The brads are from the brights collection and the ribbon is white organza.  The stamp is from the Tagtastic hostess set from the current Ideas Book and Catalogue.

I have decided to enter this into this weeks challenge at Just add Ink, JAI # 106 which is a Sketch challenge and also in the SUO challenge # 39 which is to make a Birthday Card.

I was just mucking around with some scraps and left overs (sounds like tea time lol) and decided to see how it would all turn out.  I must say it isn't to bad, so this is another card ready for a birthday.

Have gone to a favourite stamp set Vintage Vogue and Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush colours.  I have inlaid embossed to add a different look.

JAI # 104 Back to School

The challenge/theme over at Just Add Ink this week is BACK TO SCHOOL.  Well this year I don't have any one going back to school but thought that this notebook will be very useful for my daughter to keep track of things she should be going.

I will be forever hopeful that she might actually tick off chores 2 and 3 but I know she won't have a problem with the first one (neither would I).

Challenge Time

Found some time the other day to make a card for the Just Add Ink challenge for this week which is a colour challenge to use only Red and White.  I also decided to use the sketch from the challenge at Try Stamping on Tuesday.

I used Riding Hood Red, Whisper White and Confetti White card stock but I have also added a touch of Pink Pirouette (that is of course red and white together).  I stamped on the top Whisper White piece and them smudge it with a sponge and on the Whisper White mat I have spritzed it with the colour spritzer tool and a marker.  All the edges have been distressed  and I have painted some of the butterflies with Champagne Mist shimmer paint.  I have used a White Organza ribbon with some basic pearls and rhinestones to finish it off.

Another Birthday Card

Yes this is another birthday card.  This time for one of my Paper Diva Team members Sharlene,  Happy Birthday Sharlene, hope your day was a good one.

I have used a stamp from the Vintage Vogue set stamped in Wisteria Wonder and inlaid embossed some butterflies that I had cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die with the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and then put in the Square Lattice embossing folder.  Then because I didn't think that the butterflies were showing up very well I decided to put some more on top.  Adding some basic Pearls and Organza ribbon to finish it off.

I used the same stamp on the inside of the card and on the envelope.

Another Man's Card

This is a similar card to the one I posted yesterday.

With a change of embellishments and sentiment it is a different card.

A card for the man in your life

I thought I would just whip up this simple card suitable for the man in your life.

I'm currently in the process of make a box of cards for a gift and thought this would be a good simple card to go in it.  Have made a few cards but unfortunately I seem to need a lot of them for birthdays at the moment so will just have to work harder.

Butterfly Birthday Card

I put this card together for my good friend Tina, whose birthday it was this week.  Happy Birthday, Tina.

I have only just got this Beautiful  Butterfly die for my big shot and I love it so you can expect to see more projects using it.

I have teamed the Real Red butterfly (Brights Collection Pattern DSP Stack) with a backing of Spice Cake DSP from the summer mini and an embossed mat in Lucky Limeade on a Naturals Ivory card base.  With the addition of some basic pearls and a spritz of shimmer mist it was ready to go.

Happy Birthday Bernice

It is my friend Bernice's 40th birthday this week (such a long time ago for me 'sigh') and this is the card I came up with.  I gave it to her at her party last night.  Hope you have a great day on the day.

I liked the look of the layers and the torn edge of the DSP, I have also wet and rolled the bottom edge of the black mat.  Have used a bittie button threaded with early espresso bakers twine that features in the latest mini catalogue and have also spritzed the card with shimmer mist made with champagne shimmer paint, I so love this stuff.

My Girls

Hi there, I know I haven't been here for a while but I hope to post more regular this year. Maybe you could call it my new years resolution lol.

I have completed this scrapbook page using a layout designed by Anna Mangnall for our Paper Divas Extravaganza that was held in December.  I love the colours that Anna has chosen and the use of the butterflies and the lovely cherry cobbler polka dot ribbon to finish it off.  Thanks for your inspiration Anna.

These are my two gorgeous daughters Anna and Ellen and was taken in July 2011.
